Tutor Feedback
Throughout the learning and evidence portfolio your tutor will provide feedback on how you have met the assessment criteria or how to make improvements if you have to make amendments.
They should provide the feedback in the following order:
- W = What Went Well. Your tutor will state what you have done well.
- I = Even better If. Here your tutor will state what you could have done to meet more of the assessment criteria and what amendments you could/should do.
- N = Next Steps. Your tutor will suggest what you could do further to either improve should you need to or what is required to reach the next stage.
Plagiarism
Please make sure your work is your own. Should you need to research information or use the internet, please make sure your answer does not use the exact wording used on any website or in any textbook except when quoting information. You must cite where your quotes and information have come from correctly. You must also not use any AI/artificial intelligence search engines or writing services to create, summarise or find information for your answers.
Your answers will be checked by your tutor and where the answer reflects as copying, your tutor will ask you to correct/rewrite your answer. Copying someone else’s answers or copying a part of it will not be marked as passed.
Exam Conditions
Whilst undertaking online learning or conducting any mock assessments/practice assessments or tests you will agree to comply with JCQ exam regulations and conditions. You will undertake the exam in exam conditions, meaning you cannot use the internet or notes to help with your answers. Your answers must be honest and entirely your own, with no help from tutors, AI, other peers or anyone else. You must also take the mock assessment within a quiet room spaced at least 1.5 metres away from another computer or someone taking an assessment.
You must receive a pass mark over 80% in order to go forward to a real examination to show you are appropriately ready.
The Appeals Procedure
If you are unhappy with your tutor’s marking and feedback and wish to gain a second opinion, then learners (Learners) have the right to challenge the assessment decision made by a tutor (tutors); tutors can appeal against decisions and actions of an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) and against an External Quality Assurer (EQA) or Quality Advisor (QA).
The Process “ How to Appeal”
If a learner wishes to appeal against an assessment, then they must follow these steps:
- The learner should first discuss the reason for appeal with the tutor.
- The tutor must consider the reasons for the appeal and must give the learner an immediate response, backed up in writing, of the assessment decision and a new decision, or confirmation of the original decision.
- If the learner is not satisfied with the tutor’s final decision, the tutor should be informed immediately, and the Appeals Form completed by both the learner and the tutor.
- The tutor should inform the IQA that a formal written appeal has been lodged within 24 hours of the Appeals Form being completed and provide the Appeals Form and any other details to the IQA.
- The IQA will reconsider the assessment decision taking into account the learners’ reasons for appeal, the learner’s evidence and associated records, the tutor’s reason for the assessment decision and the opinion of another tutor from the centre.
- The IQA must give the learner the reconsidered decision, in writing, within 5 days of receiving the appeal.
- If the learner is not satisfied with the findings of the IQA then the learner has the right to go to the Awarding Body and must inform the IQA that they wish to do so.
